Committee Synopsis
Since its founding on Tuesday, December 4, 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has been a leading force in the dealings of the nation and the world. The fraternity has the mission of “developing leaders, promoting brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.”
One way in which the fraternity fulfills this mission is its national program, Go-to-High School, Go-to-College. Beginning in 1920, the fraternity has used this program as a means to encourage and aid young African-American students to attend high school and college.
Nu Delta Lambda Has an ongoing relationship with Hugo Owens Middle School in Chesapeake, VA. The brothers of Nu Delta Lambda have mentored the young male students at Hugo Owens. At the end of the program there is an awards ceremony for the young men. We plan to continue our relationship at Hugo Owens Middle and help to guide and mold the mind of these young men.
